I apologize that I have been so bad about keeping up with my posting!  I have been so busy this past month!  Although we are still only halfway through summer (can you believe how fast it’s going!?), fall trends, of course, have already been exposed.  This fall season, there are so many exciting trends, some of which I did not expect to resurface.

The first one is the color green.  All different shades are going to appear, but especially those that are a bit darker.  Camo is back in style, which I did not plan on seeing.  Look at this Prada Camo Platform Pump… who would have thought!  This shoe will definitely make a statement!

Military influence is very big this fall, as seen by the Camo Pump.  In addition, aviator jackets, booties with a military look, and military pocket blouses are among some of the styles we will see.

Another fall trend is lace.  Personally, I love this because lace is girly, yet sophisticated and trendy.  Here is a Stella McCartney Short-Sleeve Lace Peplum Top and Lined Pencil Skirt.

There is so much that designers can do with lace, and it can be transformed from day to night!

Pearls and feathers are another fabulous addition to the fall collections.  Adding to the playfulness of the lace, these provide a   sophisticated yet fun look.  Designers create pieces to stand out, and with these trends, we will definitely be getting some attention.

Pantsuits, capes, vests, and ponchos, booties, and structured handbags are among these trends as well.  As the season comes closer, I will discuss these in further detail and where you can find the best looks!

enjoy the summer weather!

Almost everything in fashion comes back in style at some point.  Rompers appeared in the United States in the early 1900′s.  They were primarily worn by children as comfortable and casual playwear.  Unlike the tight and restrictive clothing worn during the victorian period of the nineteenth century, these suits were ideal for movement.  During the 1950′s, this trend spread to women and became a form of a cover-up for the beach.  This only lasted for so long, and soon enough rompers were rarely seen on girls and women.  Beginning in 2006,  rompers have had a minor renaissance as a fashionable garment for women.  They carried a large presence in the Spring 2009 Fashion shows, especially those of Marc Jacobs, Max Azria, and Mara Hoffman, who showed a practical shirtdress-style romper with elbow-length sleeves.  Marc by Marc Jacobs had a more tailored version topped with a blouse, while Betsey Johnson showed a whimsical overall-inspired romper with blue and yellow stripes and ruffled trim.

At the time of these shows, people were uncertain if this trend would make it past the runways and survive mainstream.  However, after looking at this seasons trends, it is certain that the romper has indeed survived.  I recently bought my first romper, as I was unsure if I would be able to pull it off.  But it really can be a simple look, and not as outrageous as people make it out to be.  I’m going on a date tonight, and I bought the romper to wear.  At first, I wasn’t sure if this was the best choice due to the fact that many of my male friends ridicule a romper.  Nonetheless, I tried it on and it looks great.  I bought a basic C&C California black tube romper.  It was only 88 dollars, and it is extremely comfortable.

I plan to pair it with a white long slouchy grandfather cardigan, gladiator sandals, a light brown leather cuff bracelet, and a light brown chanel bag.  This look is simple yet at the same time sophisticated.

I bought my romper at Barneys, however you can purchase a romper in any store from Bergdorfs to Walmart.  It is uncertain how long this trend will stay in style, but while its here, we might as well take advantage of it and embrace it with open arms.

I just tried to set this up to see if I could blog from my blackberry… Let us see if this actually works! I spent the day today browsing the fourth of july sales. While the prices are good, I sometimes cannot stand all the craze and the chaos, I would almost rather pay the full price. However, I did find a pair of chic ray ban sunglasses that are a vintage style. Will upload a picture later. I will check in the morning if this post worked! Have a great night! I apologize that I have not blogged in so long!  I have been so incredibly busy; my hopes of writing every day seem to be impossible.  Over the past few weeks I have been working as well as traveling.  I went to the met and saw the “american women: fashioning a national identity” exhibit.  It was incredible, although very quick.  My favorite section was the Flapper period.  The dresses were GORGEOUS.  I highly recommend the exhibit!  Anyways, during my time in the city, I did some shopping in SoHo.  I discovered this little boutique – Erin Brinie.  Everything was so cute, and the prices were ridiculously inexpensive.  I bought two casual cotton shirts, yet very chic, for a total of twenty one dollars.. what a steal!

While I was there, I went into Bendel’s and the whole entrance was filled with beautiful jewelery.  I’m not sure if this was a special sale, or if they have just redecorated the store since my last visit.  Either way, it got me thinking about statement jewelery.  Usually, I like to keep my jewelery pretty simple on a daily basis.  I wear two small gold rings with a diamond, some little gold bracelets on my left hand, and either a watch or a different bracelet on my right.  However, after looking through these beautiful collections at Bendel’s, I questioned why I never wore anything that made a statement.  I started off with a yellow gold and oynx Van Cleef and Arpels alhambra necklace.

I also discovered Roberta Freymann.  For under $500, her statement pieces are easily affordable and gorgeous.  Her unique style is inspired by her travels throughout the world, especially to India, where she was awed by the beautiful colors that were incorporated into everything.  This is taken from her website:

Roberta Freymann: Global traveler who speaks five languages, style diva, interior designer, arbiter of individual style, New Yorker, entrepreneur, and mother to Maki (a thirteen year old Scottish Terrier.) In 2003, Roberta launched her world with two complementary yet distinct signature collections: Roberta Roller Rabbit and her namesake. Her philosophy of chic global style at accessible prices coupled with her larger than life personality have captured the hearts of women of all ages from around the world.  On one of her many trips to India, Roberta discovered the fairytale of Roberta Roller Rabbit and quickly decided to bring it to life through her colorful, fun prints and patterns. She launched the collection with signature kurtas accessorized by pareos and beach bags.

I apologize that I have not written any new posts lately, I have been extremely busy.  This morning I woke up and realized I have yet to talk about my favorite item ever: the classic Chanel bag.  These handbags are eternally chic, sophisticated, and elegant.  They are designed to look clean and simple; however, they can “make” the entire outfit.

A Chanel bag is timeless.  My favorite Chanel bag that I own is a brown vintage looking shoulder bag like the ones above.  It goes with anything and makes even the most boring pair of jean shorts look sophisticated and even stunning.

However, the tackiest thing possible is a fake Chanel bag.  These are so obvious to those who are familiar with the designs, and make even a nice outfit look trashy and cheap.  You would be much better off wearing a no-name bag than to buy a fake and try to pretend that it looks real and good.  Occasionally, some very good fakes can pass as real bags, but this is very rare, and are not obvious designers like Chanel.

Hopefully I will write again tomorrow, please leave some feedback!

Good morning!  I was supposed to go to the beach today; however, the weather was not in favor of that idea, so now I must stay inside.  Nonetheless, I still would like to discuss the new trends for an essential item for the summer: sunglasses.  There are so many different styles, colors, and designers out there, which makes it very difficult to be decisive on what you want.  For spring 2010, Elle Magazine describes one of these trends as “understated cool in overstated shapes for spring”.  The following are some of these marvelous styles:

As you can see, all of these shades have brilliantly creative shapes.  Cat-eye sunglasses are back in style once again, and designers are having fun using that are their base to create these masterpieces.  Personally, I adore Chanel and often, the styles that they produce happen to be my favorite.  Although these frames may be expensive, think of it as an investment.  You’ll wear them every day, and everyone can see them, so why not wear the latest trends and look fabulous?

I was just reviewing the July trends for accessories in vogue.  One style that really stands out is one that they call “heavy on the hardware”.  This features a studded clutch and tough cuff bracelets.  Of course, with this trend, like so many others, it can go very right or very very wrong.  The key is to pair these outstanding accessories with an outfit that compliments them, and perhaps focuses more on simplicity.  I recently just bought a thin brown leather studded belt from J.Crew.

Worn with a summery dress or a tank and dark denim, this fun piece can make any simple outfit stylish and trendy.  In addition, you could even throw on a long strand of pearls and a simple oversized gold chain necklace.  Accessorizing can be such a thrill because you can experiment and especially with these trends, throw in all sorts of items in to the mix.  However, it is important to be careful and not overdo it, because then the outfit will look sloppy, overdone, and perhaps cheap.   Say you were going to wear a simple white dress with the studded belt, and the pearl and chain necklaces.  I would then suggest a simple pair of flat leather sandals, and a clean hobo bag.  I will discuss that trend in an upcoming post.

I am off to enjoy the weather, I hope you do the same!

This is my first post, as I am new to blogging.  Let me tell you a little bit about myself before I begin.  I am captivated by the world of fashion.  Each season, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of the newest trends and the runway shows that occur in New York, Paris, and London.  Growing up in Boston, and frequently traveling to New York City, my home away from home, I have been exposed to some of the best and the worst trends yet; I have seen those with exquisite taste, and those who should not be allowed out in public.  I hope with this blog I can indulge you into the wonderful world of fashion, provide insight on the newest styles, and discuss my favorite timeless looks as well.

I must go, but I plan to write more later…

I finally figured out how to set up some visuals for this blog.  I just added a page titled “my favorite pieces” which features some exquisite items.  When I put together my outfits, I often tend to take a more classic and simple approach, occasionally throwing in an obscure or standout piece to tie it all together.  Staying along these lines, I usually stick with basic, neutral, or soft colors.  However, when it comes to accessories, I do not mind stepping outside the lines and picking something bold.  Thus why there is a bright pink Balenciaga handbag and pink sparkle Louboutin pumps in “my favorite pieces” section.  Especially in the summer, a dash of color is fun and brings excitement to the outfit.

Speaking of summer, I am off to the pool, will write later.
